We took a quick day trip over the Red River to ...

OKLAHOMA!

We went to Fort Washita. At the fort we learned alot about the Native Indians whom the fort was built to protect. The local plains indians that already dwelled on the land were not happy to share with those displaced in the region by the government. Hence the fort was created to try and keep peace between the different tribes.

Behind this tree and a ways up the hill are wagon wheel ruts. The pioneers were traveling from the NE to California looking for what? You guessed it GOLD. Fort Washita was a major restocking point for travelers heading west during the California Gold Rush.

The old ruins and artifacts were great. Hang on little Trent!

That picture of Joe and Trent looks like you guys traveled through some time warp, and the Joe of 1982 meets the Joe of today for a picture shoot.. "I shall call him... Mini-me."
Looks like fun! I love taking kids to places like that!
That looks like so much fun! We've been meaning to take a trip up north. We'll have to put it on our list.
